Coolum STP Wetland Trial
Project Description
Australian Wetlands in partnership with AWC, SEMF and Donnan are constructing reed beds to determine the potential role that constructed wetlands could play in Unity Water’s Integrated Water Cycle strategy for the Sunshine Coast Region.
Construction involved conversion of existing sludge lagoons into two cells that can be operated in parallel to test a range of flow regimes and treatment capacity. Australian Wetlands will build and commission the reed beds, including installation of 42,000 tubestock, and maintain them for two years.
